Chapter 14. Blood and Ketchup Go Flying

I took the time to finish penning a covert reply to Grandmother Rose and Kedrik, so I arrived late to Writing class. Ms. Sakura never took attendance, so I didn’t get in trouble. She simply greeted me and took my homework. I seated myself to listen to the rest of her lecture.

“Each of you will now write your own haiku,” she finished, rattling the beads on her eyeglasses. “Keep in mind what we have discussed. Attempt to find the extraordinary in the ordinary and capture the essence of your fascination in the few words allowed in the form. Turn in your finished poems to me at the end of class. Tomorrow we will move on to acrostic poems.”

Lips twitching, I worked diligently on my assignment.
